Estamos trabajando a todo vapor en la construcción del kayak. Luis Videla, de Asiak kayaks, nos cuenta como esta adaptando el Albatros a las necesidades de nuestra expedición. Uno de los problemas más importantes que enfrentamos es el tema del peso total de los equipos que tendremos que transportar y Luis esta logrando que el kayak pese entre 10 y 15 kg menos del modelo estandar sacando pintura y material; cambiando las tapas de las bodegas por tapas más livianas; y finalmente modificando la popa y la pedalera. Luis está muy contento con el resultado e incluso espera que sea mejor que el original! (foto del kayak en construcción).

We are working full-steam in building the kayak. Luis Videla, from Asiak kayaks, tells us how he's adapting the Albatros to the needs of our expedition. One of the key problems that we are facing is the total weight of equipment that we will need to carry and Luis has managed so far to save in between 10 and 15 kg compared to the standard kayak by saving in painting and material; modifying the hatches and finally by modifying the stem and the foot rest. Luis is very happy with the result so far and hopes that this will be even better that the original! (photo of the kayak under construction).

En 1999 fuimos al Cabo de Hornos en kayaks de mar.
En 2001 fué el turno de la isla de los Estados, donde visitamos el Faro del Fin del Mundo.
Siempre seducidos por su geografía pretendemos ahora ir más lejos: combinando el kayakismo y el montañismo intentaremos el cruce integral de la Patagonia desde el océano Pacífico hasta el océano Atlántico. En los Hielos Continenales seguiremos la ruta que abriera Eric Shipton hace casi 50 años.
No buscamos establecer record alguno. Buscamos la aventura y la superación de nuestros propios límites. Queremos también llamar la atención sobre el problema del cambio climático y de sus consecuencias sobre una de las zonas más sensibles de nuestro planeta. Para que la cuidemos...antes que sea demasiado tarde!
Nuestros medios son limpios. Sin dejar rastro. Sin ayuda externa.
Esperamos que a través de este sitio nos puedan seguir. Queremos hacer este viaje junto a ustedes.

In 1999 we went to Cape Horn by sea kayak.
In 2001 we visited Isla de los Estados in the far tip of South América to visit the Lighthouse of the End of the World.
As always, seduced by its geography we now want to go even further: kayaking and mountaineering wil let us attempt for the first time the integral corssing of Patagonia from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. In the Southern Patagonian Ice Field we will follow he route that Eric Shipton opened almost 50 years ago.
We are not after a record. We want to explore unknown lands and to push further our limits.
We also want to bring attention to how climate change is affecting one of the most sensitive areas of our planet. To rise awarness...before it's too late!
